The SADC Regional Peacekeeping Training Centre (SADC RPTC) is currently implementing three “Training of Trainers” Courses (TOT). The training courses are targeting military, civilian, police and correctional officers nominated by their respective SADC member states, who are being prepared to perform as training focal points within their institutions or organizations of origin.
The ToTs are aimed at transferring the capacity to participants to design and implement training courses for professionals in their country of origin to be deployed in peace support operations. Adult learning, communication, designing an agenda as well as interactive training methodologies are among the main topics in class.
During the first Trainers Course in September, participants noted that they learnt a lot from the trainers and from each other. It served as a pilot course for two additional Training of Trainers courses to be held from 14-25 October 2013 and 28 October to 8 November, 2013, respectively.
The courses are made possible through support by the German government and UNITAR.
