SADC Ministerial Workshop on Energy and Water Crisis in the RegionThe second in a series of three workshops called for by his Excellency Lt. Gen. Dr. Seretse Khama Ian Khama the President of the Republic of Botswana in his capacity as Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), will be held on 20th June 2016 in Gaborone, Botswana with a focus on the energy and water crisis in the region.

The high level workshop to be held under the theme: "Accelerating energy delivery and access to water resources in the SADC region – A collective approach" will be attended by Ministers and Senior Officials from the Ministries responsible for Energy and Water in the SADC Member States; representatives of national energy and water regulators and utilities; international cooperating partners, SADC energy and water thematic group members, academic research and training institutions; development finance institutions and independent power producers.
The objective of the workshop is to facilitate exchange of ideas and forge practical and sustainable solutions towards the energy and waters crisis in the region with a view to map out a strategic direction and agree on a way forward.

The first workshop on Food Security and Poverty Eradication was held in Gaborone, Botswana on 16th May 2016. The third workshop on Illegal Trade in Wild Life will be held on 8th July 2016.
