The Executive Secretary of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Her Excellency, Dr. Stergomena Lawrence Tax, on 13th June 2018, received Letters of Credence from Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Angola to Botswana and SADC Dr. Beatriz Antónia Manuel Morais.
In her welcome remarks H.E. Dr. Tax congratulated the Ambassador on her appointment as Ambassador for the Republic of Angola to Botswana and representative to SADC.
She commended the Republic of Angola for establishing a SADC Coordinating Office which is aimed at promoting regional integration. On this note, H.E. Dr Tax encouraged other SADC Member States to emulate the example set by Angola for coordinating implementation of the SADC agenda and to mainstream the SADC agenda in their developmental plans and budgets.
H.E. Dr Tax assured the new Ambassador of SADC Secretariat's commitment to work with her in order to promote and enhance regional cooperation and integration as was the case with her predecessor and the Angolan government.
On her part, H.E. Ambassador Morais expressed gratitude to the SADC Executive Secretary for the warm welcome to the SADC Secretariat. She assured the SADC Executive Secretary that Angola remains resolute and committed to working closely with SADC Secretariat to further play a meaningful role in contributing to SADC regional integration.
The two parties committed to continue working together for the development of the SADC region and its people. Ambassador Morais was accompanied by Mr Antonio Dos Santos Nascimento and Mr Rufino Takassala from the Angolan Embassy in Botswana.
