The Executive Secretary of the Southern African Development Community (SADC),Her Excellency Dr Stergomena Lawrence Tax held a Press Conference on 31st October 2018 at SADC Headquarters in Gaborone, Botswana, to interact with the Media in Botswana, and encouraged them to produce stories that promote regional integration.
Dr Tax briefed the media on several issues being pursued in the region to contribute to the realisation of the goal of SADC, which is to promote sustainable and equitable economic growth, and socio-economic development, in its 16 Member States, Angola, Botswana, Union of Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kingdom of Eswatini, Kingdom of Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
“We feel it is important that we interact with the media from time to time and share information, so that through the media, the citizens of the Region are constantly informed on what milestones SADC is making, and are made aware of what SADC is doing”, Dr Tax said.
