The workshop on Food Security and Poverty Eradication is taking place today at Gaborone International Convention Centre in Botswana. The theme of the workshop is “Towards Poverty Free and Food Secure Region”.
The workshop was convened and officiated by His Excellency Lt. General Dr. Seretse Khama Ian Khama, President of the Republic of Botswana and Chairperson of SADC.
The meeting provides an opportunity for a broad-range of stakeholders, including Ministers of SADC Member States, representatives of Financial Institutions, International cooperating Partners, Farmers Organizations, Private Sector, Civil Societies and Government officials to brainstorm and come up with innovative and practical solutions.
The Keynote Address was delivered by His Excellency Lt. General Dr. Seretse Khama Ian Khama, President of the Republic of Botswana and Chairperson of SADC, and Welcome Remarks by SADC Executive Secretary, Her Excellency Dr. Stergomena Lawrence Tax.
The meeting will close at 1630 hours and will be followed by a Media briefing by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Botswana and SADC Executive Secretary.
