SADC Senior Officials Responsible for Energy and Water urge the region to develop sustainable solutions in support to Energy and Water Sectors

SADC Joint Meeting of Committee of Senior Officials Responsible for Energy and for Water are meeting in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo from 1 - 3 November 2022 ahead of the Ministers responsible for these portfolios scheduled to take place on 4th November 2022 at Hotel du Fleuve.

Mr. Honoré Ndushabandi Nyamugusha, Secretary General of the Ministry of Hydraulic Resources and Electricity of the Democratic Republic of Congo, presided over the meeting as Chairperson of the Senior Officials responsible for Energy and Water and was supported by  Ms Angele Makombo N’tumba, SADC Deputy Executive Secretary for Regional Integration.

Mr. Nyamugusha applauded SADC Member States for making time to discuss strategies and policies aimed at improving Water and Energy programmes, while simultaneously capitalizing on possible synergies in energy, water and environmental solutions.

Ms N’tumba emphasised that the SADC region must intensify the development of sustainable solutions to the challenges of climate change, energy deficit, restricted water supply, and infrastructural deficit. She pointed out that if these challenges are addressed by all policy makers through effective implementation of programmes and strategies, the regional energy and water security will be realised.

The Committee will review regional energy and water projects and prepare documents for the Minister's consideration and approval.
