SADC to hold a high level resource mobilization workshop and energy investors conference

The SADC Secretariat will hold a High Level Resource Mobilization Workshop and Energy Investors Conference on 12-13 July, 2017 in Ezulwini, Kingdom of Swaziland to showcase investment opportunities in the energy sector, focusing on specific flagship projects.

The event is in line with the theme of the 36th SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government on “Resource Mobilisation for Investment in Sustainable Energy Infrastructure for an Inclusive SADC Industrialisation and for the Prosperity of the Region”. 

His Majesty King Mswati III of the Kingdom of Swaziland will host this High-Level Resource Mobilisation Workshop and Investors Conference. The event will draw Ministers responsible for Energy and for Resource Mobilisation in the SADC Member States, including representatives of national power utilities and energy regulatory bodies; Development Finance Institutions; International Cooperating Partners; SADC Energy Thematic Group members; and Independent Power Producers and other interested stakeholders and investors.

The workshop is expected to showcase regional energy projects that will facilitate practical short, medium and long term solutions, addressing Energy challenges in the Region with a view to stimulate regional industrialisation and sustainable development for all sectors of the economy.

The Energy Investor’s Forum aims to identify investment opportunities for private companies in the energy sector and provide potential investors and other key stakeholders with up to date progress information on strategic energy projects for the region.

The event is sponsored by the African Development Bank, Development Bank of Southern Africa, World Bank Group, European Union, China Overseas Infrastructure Development and Investment Corporation in collaboration with other strategic partners and investors.
