The Union of Comoros becomes the 16th SADC Member State

The 37th SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government meeting in Pretoria, Republic of South Africa has admitted the Union of Comoros as a new member of SADC, according to the Communique issued after the Summit.

The admission of the Union of Comoros will bring the number of SADC Member States to 16.

The Union of Comoros is located in the Mozambique channel to the north-west of Madagascar. The Comoro Islands which make the Union of Comoros cover a total area of 2361 km².
