Statement by the SADC Secretariat following the Publication of Provisional Results of the 2018 Presidential Election in Madagascar

Gaborone, Botswana, 19th November, 2018:  The Southern African Development Community (SADC) welcomes the publication of provisional results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) on 17th November, 2018, following the first round of voting in the 2018 Presidential Election held on 7th November, 2018 in Madagascar.

SADC commends CENI for releasing the provisional results and for the work the commission has done so far. We further congratulate the Malagasy people and all political stakeholders for conducting themselves in an orderly and peaceful manner before, during and after the first round of voting in the Presidential Election.
