The SADC Executive Secretary, Her Excellency Dr. Stergomena Lawrence Tax, and the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Botswana and SADC H.E. Dr. Rolf Ulrich, signed a technical and financial cooperation agreement for €17.0 million between SADC and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The signing took place at the SADC House in Gaborone, Botswana on 8th July 2016. The agreement covers technical and financial contributions in support of
SADC Transboundary Water Management, the SADC Strengthening of Quality Infrastructure for Trade and Consumer Protection, Strengthening of Economic and Trade Policy Capacity in SADC, strengthening National-Regional linkages in SADC, and Support to Peace, Security and Governance in the SADC region.
Speaking during the ceremony, the SADC Executive Secretary hailed the Government of Germany for the support provided to the SADC Secretariat and through bilateral Agreements with Member States. She called upon the Germany Government to continue supporting the region as it strives to integrate and transform its economies for the good of its citizens.
Speaking on behalf of the Government of Germany, the Germany Ambassador thanked the SADC for the cordial relationship that exists between the two entities. He highlighted that the Germany Government will continue to support the SADC in fulfilment its goals and objectives.
