Ambassador of Brazil to Botswana and Special Representative of Brazil to SADC, Presented his Letter of Credentials to SADC

The SADC Executive Secretary, H.E. Dr Stergomena Lawrence Tax, received H.E. Ricardo Diniz, the new Ambassador of Brazil to Botswana and Special Representative of Brazil to SADC, on 31 March 2016 at SADC Headquarters, who presented his Letter of Credentials.

The Executive Secretary welcomed H.E. Ricardo Diniz and thanked the government of Brazil for continued support to the SADC Region. She updated him on the priorities of the SADC Region as outlined in the Revised Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP). She further pointed out that to deepened SADC Regional Integration, the region has adopted the SADC Industrialization Strategy and Roadmap 2015-2063 which is supported by the SADC Regional Infrastructure Development Master Plan, both of which offer investment opportunities for investors. She also encouraged Brazilian Investors to take advantage of the preferred treatment, and the expanded market offered by the SADC Free Trade Area, and by COMESA–EAC–SADC Tripartite arrangement.

In conclusion, the meeting agreed to enhance cooperation between Brazil and the SADC Region, at both Regional level and bilateral cooperation between Brazil and individual SADC Member States.
