PRESS RELEASE - SADC to hold Extraordinary Organ Troika Summit Plus the Republic of Mozambique in Pretoria, South Africa on 5th October, 2021

4th October 2021 - Gaborone, Botswana: The Southern African Development Community (SADC) will hold an Extraordinary Organ Troika Summit Plus the Republic of Mozambique on 5th October, 2021 in Pretoria, Republic of South Africa to consider progress and way forward for the  SADC Mission in Mozambique (SAMIM).

The Extra-ordinary Organ Summit will be chaired by His Excellency Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa  in his capacity as the Chairperson of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation. 

The Organ Troika Summit will be attended by H.E. Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, President of the Republic of Botswana and Outgoing Chairperson of the SADC Organ H.E. Dr Hage G. Geingob, President of the Republic of Namibia and Incoming Chairperson of the SADC Organ and H.E. Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique and Outgoing Chairperson of SADC.

The Summit will, among the key issues, discuss the support for effective operation of SAMIM objectives to bring peace and stability in Cabo Delgado in the Republic of Mozambique. 

In accordance with Article 10 of the SADC Treaty, the SADC Organ on Politics Defence and Security is responsible for promoting peace and security in the SADC region.

  • Meeting of the Joint Defence and Security Clusters Chiefs of the Organ Troika
  • Meeting of Senior Officials of the Organ Troika
