Zambia High Commissioner to Botswana bids farewell to SADC Executive Secretary

The High Commissioner of the Republic of Zambia to the Republic of Botswana, and Permanent Representative to the Southern African Development Community (SADC), His Excellency Mr. Mwansa Kapeya, paid a virtual courtesy call to the SADC Executive Secretary His Excellency, Mr Elias M Magosi on 21st January 2022, to bid him farewell.

Mr Kapeya commended the SADC Executive Secretary and the staff at the SADC Secretariat for the cooperation, dedication and commitment in facilitating the implementation of the SADC Regional Integration Agenda.

The outgoing High Commissioner highlighted that the Republic of Zambia played a leading role in the establishment of the regional community, and that as a founding member of SADC, the Republic of Zambia remained committed to the aspirations of the region. Mr Kapeya further highlighted that during his tenure he participated in several meetings organised by the SADC Secretariat where he was able to contribute as well as gain experience on various issues of regional cooperation and integration.

The SADC Executive Secretary thanked the High Commissioner for his contribution to the advancement of the SADC Regional Integration Agenda, and for serving as a member of the SADC Committee of Ambassadors and High Commissioners accredited to Botswana and SADC. He encouraged the Republic of Zambia to remain committed to SADC Programmes and to continue to meet the obligations to facilitate economic integration in Southern Africa.

The SADC Executive Secretary was accompanied by Ms. Feziwe Matsebula from the Directorate of Policy Planning and Resource Mobilisation, Ms Barbara Lopi from the Communications and Public Relations Unit, Mr. Mphatso Kachule from Legal Affairs Unit, and Ms Kelejwang Moichubedi from the Office of the Executive Secretary.

His Excellency Mr. Kapeya, was accompanied by the First Secretary for Press and Public Relations from the Zambian High Commission in Botswana, Mr. Kasabo Kalusa.
